I, Todd W. Austin, D.C. of Virden, recently attended a weekend seminar at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri on Advanced Clinical Nutrition. The seminar was presented by Dr. Rodger Murphree, DC, CNS. Dr. Murphree is the author of five books including one on the subject of heart disease. Murphree also writes for several health publications. Dr. Murphree was also the founder and past director of a large multi-disciplinary integrated medical practice in Birmingham, AL.
Dr. Murphree is thus recognized as one of the pioneers in the growing field of orthomolecular medicine or functional medicine (where more emphasis is placed on vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids and herbs, than on the myriad of commonly prescribed drugs that all come with a plethora of potentially dangerous side effects. This first seminar in a series of seminars leading to an ‘Advanced Clinical Nutrition’ certification covered cardiovascular disorders and protocols (including common myths about cholesterol), dermatology, protocols for endocrine disorders including diabetes and hypothyroidism, gastrointestinal disorders and pulmonary disorders.
